Shadows investigation

Lesson: Science

Class: Year 3/4 Year: 2020 - 2021

We have been looking at how shadows are formed and why they change shape. We carried out this investigation by moving the light source (torch) in 10cm intervals away from the opaque object and drawing the shadow that was formed on a piece of paper. To keep the test fair the object and paper didn't move. We discovered the the closer the light source was to the object, the larger the shadow that was formed. This was because more light was being blocked by the object as light travels in straight lines.🔦
